BS EN 50160 Surveys

Power Quality is defined by the standard 50160 and defines the characteristics of the voltage supply of your installation.  Measurements are made over 7 days/1 week and will look at voltage levels, supply frequency, voltage harmonics and events such as voltage sags, swells and transients.

Compliance to 50160 is shown with each measurement parameter being indicated as either a Pass or Fail results.  These results are a good indicator of an installations overall power quality and can be used to help identify areas that maybe of interest to investigate further.

As 50160 looks at the quality of the voltage supply, we are able to use these surveys when clients have a concern about potential power quality problems being caused by an external influence on the their electrical supply.  For issues where harmonics are suspected, voltage harmonics are measured up to the 25th in accordance with the standard, with the capability to measure up to 40th or 50th harmonic also possible.
