Celebrating a Decade of Innovation: Power Quality Expert Turns 10
September 2026 marked a momentous milestone for Power Quality Expert as we proudly celebrate our 10th anniversary. Since our journey began in September 2016, we have grown from an ambitious start-up into a trusted industry leader, transforming how businesses across the UK monitor, analyse, and optimise their electrical infrastructure.
Reflecting on the past decade, our growth has been driven by strategic partnerships, pioneering services, and an unwavering commitment to the electrical industry. Here is a look back at some of the key milestones that have shaped our first 10 years.
Building a World-Class Product Portfolio
From the very beginning, our mission was to bring the world’s best power quality instrumentation and service to the UK market. A few months after launching in 2016, we established a core working relationship with Polish manufacturer Sonel, officially becoming their UK distributor.
As our reputation grew, so did our portfolio. We have since expanded our offering by introducing cutting-edge solutions from Italian manufacturer Electrex, alongside advanced power quality systems from Portuguese manufacturer Elspec. Together, these partnerships allow us to provide an unparalleled range of energy monitoring and power quality technology.
Pioneering the Power Quality Health Check
Innovation has always been at the heart of what we do. In 2018, we launched our revolutionary Power Quality Health Check service. This unique offering changed the game for contractors, plant hire companies, and instrument specialists, allowing them to send data files from their own meters directly to us for expert analysis.
By converting complex data into simple, intuitive reports complete with technical commentary, we made power quality analysis accessible. Today, this service has evolved and been fully integrated into our Power Quality Clinic, featuring a newly enhanced, next-generation report format.
Track Record of Industry Achievements
Over the past decade, Power Quality Expert has consistently delivered on high-profile, critical infrastructure projects. Key highlights include:
- Network Rail & PADS Approval: We worked closely with Network Rail to secure full PADS approval for the Sonel MZC-306 earth fault loop impedance meter. This unique instrument is now actively used for vital testing across the nation’s 650V railway signalling network.
- Energy Technology List (ETL) Compliance: We have become the largest stakeholder with the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ, formerly BEIS) for automated monitoring and targeting (aM&T) products. All of our partners’ power quality and energy logging products have been independently assessed and approved for inclusion on the prestigious Energy Technology List.
Supporting the Electrical Community
We believe in giving back to the industry that supports us. Over the last ten years, we have actively championed national electrical associations like the ECA and Certsure.
As proud members of the ECA, we have sponsored numerous regional roadshows, including their landmark 125th-anniversary celebrations. This year, we were also thrilled to support the NICEIC on their national TechLive events as part of their own 70th-anniversary activities.
