Energy Load Profiling Surveys

A load profile survey is a good way to understanding where and when you are using energy and can be used as a basis for an energy management system. We recommend that the survey is conducted during what would be considered a typical week. If this is not possible then a plan can be proposed where electrical loads can be run for minimal time to help establish examples of maximum demands. This approach can be beneficial to help understand energy usage for larger projects or seasonal business where consumption can vary.

Measurement of current is non intrusive allowing for easier connection and monitoring of the load profile, maximum demands measurement and base load monitoring. With the addition of voltage measurement additional measurements can be made including real power (kW), apparent power (kVA), reactive power (kVAR), power factor (PF).

The load profile survey can also be used to monitor the consumption of energy (kW/hr, kVA/hr, kVAR/hr) and enable the verification of the energy usage to ensure billing data and the tariff structures are correct. The reports on the load and current demand can also be used to identify potential spare supply capacity when planning to add additional loading to an electrical installation or circuit such as the installation of EV charging points.
