Neutral current diversion (NCD) describes ‘stray’ neutral currents flowing in continuous and intact metallic structures, services and pipes in a property that would otherwise return via the system neutral conductor. Where there is an open-circuit PEN conductor at the incoming supply point, this can result in neutral current taking an alternative path.
